All our gardening enthusiasts are looking forward to our Autumn Show which is being held on Saturday October 2nd in the village hall. A reminder that entry forms should be submitted to either Marian Talbot at “The Cottage” Faussett Hill or by email to lhngs@outlook.com by Thursday evening, September 30th. The hall will be open for exhibitors to display their fantastic items from 11am till 13.00, when the judging begins, on the Saturday of the show.
We are hoping that more of our villagers will submit entries, particularly the children. To this end we have added more classes for different age groups so please encourage the younger ones to have a go. Don’t worry about membership fees for the year as mentioned in the show schedule. We would be delighted to welcome any new single or family members for this show, the last of the year.
Several people in the village who recently attended the successful Hog Roast expressed an interest in coming along so we look forward to seeing them again.
To help further demystify the process of entering exhibits here are a few pointers. Assuming you have handed in your entry form on time, when you arrive at the hall on Saturday morning you will be able to pick up an envelope with all the entry cards made out in your name for the various
classes you have entered. These are then placed by your exhibit with your name face down. Regular gardening members are always on hand to assist if needed. The judging takes place between 13.00 and 15.00 when the hall opens to the public. It is always a fun moment to see all the displays of flowers, vegetables, cakes, floral art, cookery and photography along with the judges comments. Prize giving normally takes place at about 16.30 and this year we are delighted to be able to present Pilgrim’s Hospice with a cheque for £500.
As usual there will be lovely refreshments available and the ever popular raffle.
