Apply and renew mulches. Mulching is good for the soil at any time of the year but it is especially beneficial in warmer weather as it reduces water loss and suppresses weeds.
Fill gaps in borders with summer bedding - pot marigolds are ideal
Prune Spring flowering shrubs
Weed, deadhead to maintain beds, borders and containers
Take cuttings from pinks
Cut down the faded foliage of bulbs
Lift and divide overgrown clumps of bulbs
Plant winter brassicas and protect them from pests
Water fruit and veg thoroughly during dry spells
Keep sowing salad vegetables
